She chided Tom for his lack of ambition, and her actions and words resulted in repeated, escalating arguments between them. Laura also spends much of her time caring for her glass menagerie, a collection of glass figurines. And that his memory of Laura is but a candle that he must blow out to free himself of her haunting, dreamlike presence. They have an argument, and the next morning after Tom apologizes, Amanda asks him to find some nice gentleman caller for Laura and to bring him home for dinner.
